And man, Jalen Brunson authored an incredible sports story. He will be celebrated in New York forever like Willis and Clyde.
The 11-year-old me is thrilled again. The me for most of the past 50 years is stunned to call the Knicks champions. They earned it with an incredible playoff run. The Canyon of Heroes awaits.

After last night, been thinking about the Choke/Clutch City series. With his team shaken, Rudy T decided to pick up his players in the next video session by showing how they built, rather than lost the lead. Brilliant, ballsy move.

Unbelievable. At halftime, I thought we would get two days of analysis that would need two minutes. Now, don't know if two weeks would be enough to figure out this one. Absolutely stunned.

For halftime, MSG favorite Billy Joel might have to come out to sing New York State of Shock.
The sport has changed like crazy, but the Spurs are shooting so well, they made more 3s midway through the 2nd quarter than the Knicks made in the entire series when the teams met in the 99 Finals (11) and are way ahead of the pace to make more than the Spurs made (21).

And KAT has been a revelation, not just for how well he is playing, as the Inside guys are saying, but those were great, revealing, honest on-court interviews.
So much squeezed into these first two games, a hoops feast already. Tough to wait until Monday. Does feel like for Wemby and the Spurs, the heartbreak still must come before championships, as it has for so many before them.

Well, that was a hell of a Game 1. Jalen Brunson three wins from lifetime Willis Reed treatment in New York. Not to be overlooked, that was the Josh Hartest of Josh Hart games. But this series looks likely to have some wild twists and turns.

Oh, absolutely. His teams included the 22-game win streak team. And Rick was endlessly insightful and honest, just what a beat guy appreciates most. One more thing: he cherished his family, which I respected greatly.
Replying to @Jonathan_Feigen
His teams had to be some of your favorites to cover I'd think, Jonathan.

A truly brilliant coach, basketball mind. RIP to a legend and HOFer, and condolences to his family, friends and fans.
The membership of the National Basketball Coaches Association joins the NBA family in mourning the passing of legendary Head Coach and Hall of Famer, Rick Adelman. Rick Adelman coached in the NBA for 29 years, serving as a Head Coach for 23 seasons with the Portland Trail Blazers, Golden State Warriors, Sacramento Kings, Houston Rockets and Minnesota Timberwolves. Over his coaching career, Rick won 1,042 games (10th all-time), was inducted into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame in 2021 and received the NBCA Chuck Daly Lifetime Achievement Award in 2023. Coach Adelman also enjoyed an eight-year NBA playing career with the San Diego Rockets, Portland Trail Blazers, Chicago Bulls, New Orleans Jazz, and Kansas City-Omaha Kings. Adelman will be remembered not only as a coach and a player, but also as a mentor to so many in the basketball community. Rick was a husband to Mary Kay for 56 years; father to Kathy, RJ, Laura, David, Caitlin, and Patrick; and a grandfather of twelve. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the entire Adelman family during this difficult time.

Greatly deserved. Influence seen throughout the sport. Congrats!
An important figure in the evolution of modern basketball who elevated the game through his uptempo, space and pace philosophy that helped redefine offensive strategy, emphasizing ball movement, shooting, and efficiency and shaping the analytics-driven era of the sport — known as Seven Seconds or Less. He is also a Hall of Famer as a member of the 2008 US Men's National Team, #26HoopClass inductee Mike D'Antoni.

Was very nice to see Chip Nila, among many others from days past, in that NBC setup for the Rockets vs. Knicks tonight.

Was also gratified to see today that many understood that Moe, a terrific, innovative coach, was much more than an entertaining, gregarious character.
A wonderful tribute by @tom_orsborn and @Monroe_SA. It captures why being around Doug Moe was a delight, as was hearing the many stories Monroe shared over the years as only he could.

Doug Moe, who guided the #Spurs to the brink of the NBA Finals in 1979 and ranks only behind Gregg Popovich in franchise history in games coached (377) and wins (177), died Tuesday after an illness. He was 87. expressnews.com/sports/spurs…

There were many reasons that Post staff members were proud to call one another colleagues. The way @MrMichaelLee did his job and the work that produced was and remains a great example.
I'm grateful that I got to spend 16 years working at a place that felt like home, with colleagues whose talents were only exceeded by their quality as people. My time at the Washington Post is over but the pride I feel from being a part of that awesome Sports staff will live on.

As much as I hate what the destruction of the Washington Post means for journalism and the essential role of a free press, my heart aches for @CandaceDBuckner, @BenGolliver and so many talented and dedicated people that did great work only to be stabbed in the back. Terrible day.
I guess democracy has died, y’all Well at least, the greatest sports section in all the land has… Like so many of my amazingly talented friends & colleagues, my time at the washington post is over. Inconceivable that this was the decision for our section. But onward.
