What an incredible experience
Today I woke up feeling grateful. This campaign gave me experiences, conversations, and relationships that I’ll carry with me for the rest of my life. I heard stories, saw communities I care deeply about, and had conversations that reminded me why this state is worth fighting for.
I also had the opportunity to get to know and respect the good men in this race. I believe our friendships will last well beyond election season.
I ran this campaign the only way I know how — as David Jones.
No pretending to believe something I don’t. No pretending to be someone I’m not. And most importantly: no holding back on the truth in order to protect myself.
If you’re wondering how I’m doing — I’m doing just fine.
Yesterday, I took 6 of my grandchildren on a John Deere Gator ride through the woods, let them push me in the pool, and relaxed and reflected with my kids - those moments are the prize.
Thank you to every person who volunteered, donated, prayed, shared a post, put up a sign, came to an event, or simply believed in me enough to give me a shot.
Keep loving Maine. Keep paying attention. Keep speaking your truth.
And keep FIGHTING LIKE HELL.
