In 2016, I was interviewed at two ‘world class universities’ for an academic psychiatry post. Both interview panels were all white. The first panel laughed at me, the second rated me as the lowest ranking applicant & ‘unappointable’. I never have been humiliated in such a despicable manner. In 2022 I received the World Health Organisation Director General Award for Global Health, the first psychiatrist in the world to receive such an honour. NEVER stop believing in yourself.
