Arts Council England has returned to sanity. The disastrous Let's Create strategy, which marginalised art, especially classical music, has been replaced with a return to ACE's founding principle: excellence for everyone, everywhere. Thank you @margarethodge

With Boff's exit flounce, the last of the gender loons has gone from @LGBTCons. Finally, sanity is restored.

Define "biological sex" in a way that doesn't require a DNA test certificate to have a pee. Oh, and I don't want to be your patron any more. If you can't speak for all the letters you don't speak for me. Bye.

It's good to see this lot finally grow up a bit. The group has a history of anti-women trans activism. In 2018, one of its leadership reported @Womans_Place_UK to the police for 'terrorism'.
Please see our statement on the EHRC's guidance🏳️‍🌈.

One of the things I really appreciate about this excellent article is that @RobBurl doesn’t let Fran Unsworth get away with saying “I tried.” The fact is, she didn’t try hard enough. I can sympathise but she had a duty and obligations, and she failed.

Inside the capture of the BBC, by Rob Burley (@RobBurl) In his 13 years as a senior BBC editor, Rob Burley saw the Corporation’s defining commitment to impartiality undermined by transgender ideology, a blind commitment to Diversity & Inclusion schemes, and a culture of intolerance. Informed by his experiences at Newsnight alongside other prestige shows, his major investigation reveals how the BBC took a side in the culture wars. He draws on extensive interviews with current and former staff — including journalists at the very top. Speaking out for the first time since leaving the Corporation, Fran Unsworth, the former director of BBC News, reveals in an explosive interview: “I would actually say it drove me out, just dealing with the progressive editorial issues and the bullying around them all. It was incredibly difficult.” Read more below ⬇️ buff.ly/7Fv4Ry8

Latest - allies tell Starmer ‘at the meeting with Streeting, if you kill him with the pill from the till by making with it the drug in the jug, you need not light the candle with the handle on the gateau from the chateau.’

My prediction is that, if he does become prime minister, within two years Starmer will have become the most unpopular prime minister in modern British history.

It was obviously going to be very very bad when the briefing was “we should be in the heart of Europe and we should stick to the red lines”. He’s just not up to it. And Labour MPs need to stop taking the piss.
OK, I know I'm not exactly Starmer's biggest fan. But that was bad. Really bad. Not just bad in the context of the moment. But bad on any objective level.

Many people seem to believe the EHRC guidance will be put to a Parliamentary vote. That’s not how it works ⬇️
Replying to @akuareindorf
The official procedure for the Code is that it lies before Parliament for 40 days (not incl. any dissolution or adjournment of 4 days ). Parl can pass a "prayer motion" to annul it during that time. Otherwise it passes automatically. A motion to annul was last successful in 1979

The @southbankcentre say his views are his own and don’t affect the art programming. Many Jewish ppl have told me they don’t go to the centre anymore because it doesn’t feel welcoming. They can’t keep waving that away.

Rachel, your co-deputy leader Mothin Ali tweeted about the Oct 7 massacre that Palestinians 'have a right to fight back'. Are you really surprised that the Greens are not invited to a rally *against* #antisemitism??
The only party led by a Jewish leader, who’s faced Nazi salutes and antisemitic abuse on our streets this month, wasn’t invited. Reform's leader, with a track record of antisemitism, is invited. I know, like every party, we’ve got work to do on tackling antisemitism. But tackling hate requires cross-party solidarity, not ideological gatekeeping. theguardian.com/uk-news/2026…

The key thing is that by declaring her candidacy, following the precedent of Angela Eagle in 2016, Catherine West would prompt the NEC to open a window for nominations to be collected for any candidate, inviting more serious contenders. This keeps being missed by commentators.
Cabinet minister says they don't *think* West will get the names she needs to trigger a leadership election.
