I'm super pumped for the USMNT. But I'm also going to play Debbie Downer for a second.
Since we beat Mexico in the Round of 16 in 2002, we are 3-7-6 in the World Cup. The three wins have come against Iran, Algeria and Ghana, each by one goal.
We still have a lot to prove.

For @TheAthletic, I wrote about the perceived death of "Cinderella" in the NCAA tourney. The gap has grown between power conferences and everyone else and the stats back it up. But there are still upsets to be found; we just have to change our perspective.

Jamie Dixon has TCU playing like he’s back at Pitt in 2008 — foul the crap out of the other team every possession and dare the refs to call it. But that play has long since been legislated out of the game. And today they are calling it. Don’t then cry when the refs do their job.
