Scotland vs Haiti is pretty bad. What have Scottish kids been learning over there for the past 30 years, not how to play soccer. Makes me wonder. Wow, really bad. Loved the patriotism, however, during the anthem.

Look how much bigger Alexi Lalas is than even Zlatan.

Neymar Jr. out with a grade 2 calf muscle tear. Google says that can take up to 12 weeks but usually 4-8 weeks. But, if he can actually recover, it might be a blessing in disguise since he can remain out of the way of the targeting he's had in past World Cups until the later stages. With the new format with so many teams these early games are less difficult than they used to be. Or was he included only to avoid the chaos that would have occurred had he been left off the squad and the calf muscle is the explanation? I don't know and have no inside info.

Still hard for me to watch Switzerland full of players from other countries, not to mention the Brazilian Edmilson Junior who has been a Qatari citizen for just approximately 2 years. On the field this gives colonial powers like Brazil, England, France, USA, and even Japan, and others an unfair advantage because they have people scattered all over the planet and are immigration magnets giving them a much bigger player pool to scout from than just domestically. It's cheating, finding the best anchor babies in the world for your World Cup team, but technically not breaking the rules.

Love seeing Balogun's smile and success. Love seeing how Pochettino hid his strategy up until the real matches. Love how he's playing Pulisic in the right position, correct role. And I love seeing Reyna's skill and goal. Tillman is impressive. USA's midfield is strong. I would even say I have not yet seen a team as good as the USA in this World Cup or in the warmup games, not even Brazil. USA was able to put in a second team to keep the win in the second half. The coach knows it is a long tournament with so many teams. And this is a great combination. The coach is American, a South American. There is something to that. The coach is a Latin coach as well, with some English experience. People forget too often that USA-American players, even the Anglos, are still American at their core, in their culture and mentality. This is important to realize. It is also important to realize that with more teams this is not like a win in the old World Cup formats. Everything looked great, player for player even our second team was better than their first team. Let's see if USA can keep it going. I'll be watching to see how good Brazil is today for comparison. It is also interesting that only 9 of the players are completely born and raised until age 18 in the USA. This shows the real progress of USA-American soccer, which is what the World Cup was originally supposed to be, countries competing against each other, not countries drafting the best anchor babies they can find. Great performance by the USMNT. @USMNT @ussoccer
