Today, I introduced the Candis King Hope for Sickle Cell Families Act — named in honor of a young sickle cell warrior from Virginia who we lost far too soon.
This bill would restore a program that helped researchers and policymakers improve care and treatment options for those living with sickle cell disease.

I was honored to pay tribute to Candis King from Prince William County on the floor of the U.S. House this week.
Candis — a kind, creative young woman — lost her life after a courageous battle with sickle cell disease in October.
Cindy and I continue to hold her family, friends, and all who loved her in our hearts.

Tonight in Richmond, I attended the first-ever General Assembly #Ramadan #Iftar 🌙 hosted by Senator @SalimVASenate and Delegate @Sam_Rasoul —@dcaliii’s office. Attendees included @LtGovHashmi and more than 40 members of the #Virginia #House and #Senate.
It was wonderful to see such strong participation across faiths in celebrating the break of the fast — Muslims, Christians, Jews, Sikhs, and others — coming together with mutual respect and genuine appreciation for one another.

This is a VA gubernatorial tradition since the beginning of the Commonwealth. At the moment of the Governor-elect takes the oath of office the former Governer leaves the inauguration ceremony to symbolize there can only be one duly elected sitting Governor at the Capitol. It was respect and tradition.

Given that the Lt Gov lost by 15 points, Republicans are on track to lose more than a dozen House seats, is it possible Virginians don't see your administration the same way you do?
