I am transitioning my X account to bluesky. I don’t want authors I’ve mentioned in my new project not to know about it, so please follow me there at @jsanchez-taylor.bsky.social. And here’s the pre-order link for Dispelling Fantasies: ohiostatepress.org/books/tit…

Having the best time at VICFA, the virtual conference arm of @IAFA_TW. I also got the opportunity to share the amazing cover for my forthcoming book Dispelling Fantasies, which will be out in July 2025! Credit to Black Kirby: @JIJennings and Stacey Robinson and @ohiostatepress.

This is so sad. I hate seeing authors I admire struggle because of the exploitative systems of publishing. If publishing genre fiction continues to be a hardship for authors, which voices will be left out?
I tried to make trad pub work for so, so long at the expense at my time, energy, and mental health, but there's no place for me and my stories. THE POISONS WE DRINK will be my last trad pub story. I'm geniunely done with this shit. Godspeed to those who are stronger than me.

And if you reviewed any part of my manuscript for me, don't even think about buying a copy! I will be sending one with my gratitude expressed in the acknowledgements.

I am working on edits for the new book. I have 1200 words left and way too much to add! I've never been the most verbose author, so this is a very new experience for me. I may have to make cuts. I don't know how my wordy author friends handle such stress 😅

I'm behind in my reading, as always, but I want to shout out @LyszFlo's amazing essay in FIYAH #25 “The Magic is in the Roots: Cultural Reconnection Through Magical Realism.” Just quoted it for the introduction of my new book project!

Please circulate this flyer for my online summer reading group with the @Center4Fiction. I really want to support the center because the people who organize the reading groups work hard to support speculative authors of color: centerforfiction.org/group-w…
