It was a pleasure to work with Aquilia, a British children’s magazine, on their December #Vikings issue! The issue is a mix of facts and fun that will hopefully inspire the next generation of Vikingologists! Plus the spreads by different illustrators are simply gorgeous!

A hefty lump of Flint/Chert from the Papay shore today. This rock type is completely absent in Orkneys geology; but occasionally found as glacially transported pebbles (usually on east side beaches) or, like this, a 'ballast stone' from the days of wooden ships. @BritGeoSurvey
