Murder charges would have been what the cops deserved, but they wouldn’t have been enough to call real justice. If police forces really were designed to protect people #BreonnaTaylor would still be alive. Black lives matter.

Europeans are an invasive subspecies on this continent and have negative impacts on this environment (just like other invasive plants and animals) because we didn’t co-evolve with it.

The fire ecosystem in California is super complicated. Climate change contributes, and so does forest management, but both of those are shaped by a reductionist European view of the world. The fix will be wholistic and the more inclusive the better.

It would be easier if the answer to racism was good white individuals waking up to bias. But like that hallucinogenic fungus episode of #TheXFiles, knowing what impacts your thinking doesn’t always translate to change. The way out is to follow the data and fix the system.
Grateful to my brilliant co-author, @TheOpEdProject, UW's communications team and Scientific American for helping us get this message out. From a policy perspective it's critical to focus on interventions that work and that have an evidence-base.
