A new African Lion Cub has arrived! 🦁 Our newest member is "Chub"! He came from another facility in the country as part of our animal care program. We call him Chub because of his chubby appearance, he was born at almost 3 kg, nearly twice the weight of a normal cub. Chub's Charming features include his fluffy golden fur, Sharp Claws, and tiny eyes. We invite all of you to the Juneau Zoo tomorrow for his official integration in his new enclosure. #juneau #juneauzoo #newcubday #cub #AfricanLion #zoo

A huge thank you to Coastal Helicopters and everyone who joined us for Locals Day! 📷📷 Thanks to the incredible support from the Juneau community, Coastal Helicopters donated $5,175 from the event proceeds to help support the animals and programs at Juneau Animal Rescue. One of the best parts of the day was connecting with the community through outreach and preventative care efforts, including distributing approximately 60 free microchip vouchers to ticketed passengers. And of course, our adoptable puppies stole the spotlight all day long! 🐶 We’re so grateful to Coastal Helicopters for partnering with us and to everyone who came out, purchased tickets, and supported our mission. Events like this help us continue providing care, resources, and second chances for animals across our community.

Celebrate National Rescue Dog Day with Milo! 🐶 Milo is a sweet 4-year-old mixed breed who's been patiently waiting to find his forever home! Milo loves to be taken for walks, though the thought of the cold Alaskan rain doesn't seem to excite him very much 🤩. Milo takes each day at a time, continuing to do his best at keeping his head and spirits high. He enjoys tasty treats, bully sticks, and the comfiest of beds.🍖 Milo does great with cats; however, we think Milo would prefer to live in a home without other dogs or young children. See, Milo is often treated for ear infections, which can make his head and ears sensitive. Although he isn't aggressive about this sensitivity, we would just advise children to give him space and keep Milo comfortable by avoiding petting or squeezing his ears. ⚽️ Milo is not a fan of other dogs. He's had a couple of run-ins with off-leash dogs that left him wary of other canines entirely. Now, Milo won't charge towards any danger whilst on walks, but we suggest working with Milo to rebuild his confidence and help him to ignore other dogs for his safety and others. ❤️ This amazing dog is struggling to find his forever home! If you're looking to brighten someone's day, why not ask for Milo? Visitation begins at 1 PM! 🐶 To view more available pets, find more resources, or fill out applications, visit our website! ❤️

Found a big pocket, and came running over in great delight— the tanuki's sprig of horsetail. Probably midway, it realized it wasn't his favorite chest pocket.

Dynamically parenting by sliding Chibi-chan into the pool for swimming practice Probably a common thing for small-clawed otters, I bet

Here's a glimpse of the Puma maternity ward one early morning. Even though they have free access to the neighboring room, the mother and child still choose to sleep in the same bedroom, as expected. The female "Kafu," who just woke up, is intently watching everyone sleeping before forcefully squeezing her body into the center of them (sweat). From her perspective, "Kafu" must be the center of the family, right? #PumaFamily

Chitose-chan, the white-tailed eagle, did some stretching while being blown by the wind after a long time! Even though mornings and evenings are still chilly these days, she seems to be enjoying it. Chitose-chan, the white-tailed eagle, lost her left leg in a traffic accident right after fledging, but she's still working hard on the front lines of environmental education today!

Pumas sleeping together. Even a bit of tossing and turning or poor sleeping posture might be part of the sense of security, huh.
