Trauma teaches us so many lies about ourselves and the world. The is so much re-education that needs to occur once we are on the other side and safe. The biggest usually being that we are truly safe.

Surviving trauma means un-learning so much. While in active traumatic experiences we develop adaptations that allow us to survive but do not serve us once we are no longer in traumatic dynamics.

Being a trauma survivor is heavy. That's why it's important to surround ourselves with the right kind of people. Building a stable support network that understands the weight and can help us celebrate the good times and navigate the bad is a vital part of thriving.
