On #WorldEnvironmentDay, last night’s message is as important as it might ever be.
That as nations, if we come together in common cause, there is always room for hope.
A sound and sustainable ecology, one capable of bringing about change, will not develop unless people change, unless they are encouraged to opt for another style of life, one less greedy and more serene, more respectful and less anxious, more fraternal. #WorldEnvironmentDay
Humbled & honoured to accept an OBE for the 2022 Queens birthday awards. Humbled as this is most definitely the recognition of the team and so many partners - too numerous to name - of the @tfa_Global network, all working so hard to address #deforestation at and beyond @COP26
Humbled in full recognition those of us getting awards are part of the 'establishment' fighting to advance climate action on the inside when so many campaigners have been hugely influential in shifting the agenda & raising the awareness from the outside but without recognition
And finally I must own how conflicted I feel that the award is still tied to 'Empire'; given #inequality and #justice sit at the crux of so much of our work ahead - I fully support the #ExcellenceNotEmpire campaign
Extreme Heat is one of the gravest threats from #ClimateCrisis - it will hit the poorest hardest but also all non human life - #food crops as an immediate & human-centric concern. #FoodSecurity is the great near term threat for 2022 bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-in…
.@OBGHA provided beautiful setting for launch of new inter-disciplinary @NatureRecovery Centre at U Oxford - never has there been a more important time to restore nature. Congratulations & look forward to collaboration to make it happen @ymalhi@NathalieSeddon@ecioxford
Particularly excited that there will be a strong focus on nature recovery at local level in the beautiful county of #Oxfordshire - so much to do w all the great local orgs incl. @WildOxfordshire@BBOWT@TOE_oxon @PondRiverStream @ChilternsAONB @theearthtrust & more!
So grateful you tried - thank you all for the bravery. Your video moved me to tears. So many of us are working hard on #climatecrisis but particularly over Easter I am asking myself what personal sacrifices & risks am I actually willing to take for the issue I really believe in?
2 weeks of conscious unplugging in the wonderfully verdant #forests of #CostaRica - such a joy & privilege to be back in the rainforest after >2 years. I’ve posted some thoughts & photos on LinkedIn ahead of International Day of Forests 💚🌳💚🌳on Monday linkedin.com/posts/justin-ad…
Tree Planting Is Booming. It Could Help, or Harm, the Planet.
“Nature knows much more than we do”.
Reforestation can fight climate change, uplift communities & restore biodiversity. When done badly, though, it can speed extinctions & damage ecosystems.

Great thread 🧵 and wonderful example of aligning w Mother Nature to work for #people & #planet 🌎 - this is what #naturebasedsolutions look like when done well #Peru
If you work in nature-based solutions for water/climate, you need to know what’s going on in Peru, a place that is highly vulnerable to climatic extremes but also rich with cultures that have managed extremes in the Andes for millennia. 🧵
It has been a huge privilege to work w such a great team & community these last 3 years within the Centre for Nature & Climate at the WEF - thank you all for the bravery and trust to advance a more collective agenda - which feels more important than ever!
We have to deliver on the #cop26 commitment to halt and reverse forest loss by 2030. Business and finance have a critical role to play. @JustinCMAdams@GlobalCanopy
🌳 New @Forest500 report by @GlobalCanopy on #deforestation reveals alarming insights.
But there is hope - recommendations for major companies and financial institutions, Governments and Civil Society to counter deforestation in the full report: forest500.globalcanopy.org
Policymakers must ensure that by 2030 all public and private financial flows are aligned with the mission of the #Post2020 Global #Biodiversity Framework.
