I'm fuming to read this! 🤬 Year in and year out this kind of crap happens in the summer, when most birds are already breeding, not just with Swifts, but with all birds! 😒 Birds and their nests are protected by law, but the law is clearly inadequate and is riddled with loopholes that councils, builders, farmers... anyone really, can exploit. 😡 Yet still some wonder why the UK is the most nature depleted place on earth... theguardian.com/environment/…

No need to be rude. Not sure you responded to my points either. Whilst I’m excited by a future where AI cures cancer or stops road accidents as a professional creative I’m less excited about my work being ‘scraped’ and the end of my industry whilst tech ‘bros’ get even richer.
A lot of people responding. None of them responding to me. You all repeat the same phrases and points—as if parroting what you heard someone else say—none of which address my questions. Like a bunch of mindless robots. 🤷‍♂️

Imagine swifts asking you to help them instead of me. They would if they could. Email me at thefeatherspeech@gmail.com for a template to send to 4 people who may block swift bricks coming into law in Scotland. You don’t need to be based in 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿. 🎥 by wildaboutimages

Today I discovered there is a bird known as Standard-Winged Nightjar. The male has wing ornaments called "standards" that grow out of the middle of its wings during mating season.

Into the 4th year of swift brick campaigning. Sigh. No I don’t have a team & no I’m not funded. The Scottish swift brick campaign is a real chance but I need your help. Email me at thefeatherspeech@gmail.com for an easy template - will take two mins.

It’s far below what is necessary to equate to every house actually having a swift brick in it. There is: no legal requirement, no enforcement, no transparency, no monitoring. And do the housebuilders take up guidance?

No backwards steps for nature! We can't build homes or infrastructure because Tory cuts bled our planning system dry. Putting our Habitats Regulations through a shredder isn't the answer. I've tabled a Parliamentary Motion asking the Government to rethink its plans.

Wildlife is at risk. Habitats disappearing. Species declining. Ancient Woodlands threatened. This is the result of political choices over decades. It's time to bin off spurious anti-nature narratives peddled by terminally online lobbyists.

The RSPB invited the British public to vote on this year’s Bird of the Year. Guess which bird won with 81% of the vote? A bird who needs the prize to be swift bricks! Oh yes, the swift won. Email your MP now about swifts. We need to pull together for Britain’s most popular bird

Why isn't @UKLabour listening? People from across the political spectrum value nature and don't want development at any cost. @SteveReedMP @EmmaforWycombe @Keir_Starmer

How awful are these stats. African penguins heading for extinction. Prey species fished out, oiling, habitat loss. Who are we?? One of the most charismatic birds on the planet and we can’t stop it disappearing.

Watching Labour MPs take a wrecking ball to nature makes me so angry & so sad. Their action tonight voting down amendments to the #Planning bill intended to protect wildlife & habitats from destruction is so reckless & so counterproductive. People didn’t vote Labour for this 👇
⚠️Planning bill update ⚠️ as expected Labour was whipped into voting down every amendment that would protect nature from this bill. They rejected the most basic fluffing protections for endangered species. They even rejected saving chalk streams! Now it goes back to the Lords

Today I voted for protecting nature. The Lords added sensible, evidence-based amendments to the Planning & Infrastructure Bill to strengthen nature protection. But the govt rejected them. Ministers need to listen - to experts, to trusted organisations, and to the public.

So @SteveReedMP has just tabled a motion to reject the lords amendments to the planning bill which would protect endangered species and habitats from extinction. This is vile Steve. Did you forget you promised to protect nature? We didn’t! It’s not too late to change this Steve

Ancient woodlands aren’t a blocker. Wildlife isn’t a hindrance. Chalk streams aren’t anti-growth. Our wildlife is on the brink - one in six species faces extinction. These species help define who we are as a nation - we won’t get a second chance to save them.
