This will be one of the biggest changes in @NCAA history. - 5 full seasons/5 years, no redshirts - Great for player development - Portal numbers will see a huge drop - Shifts recruiting focus back to high school players, for most schools - Freshman can be used sparingly now and it doesn’t change their eligibility - The system will be less transactional - 1 time transfer, with no sitting, is still fair for players
NCAA President Charlie Baker is pushing for the proposal to allow DI athletes five years of eligibility to be voted on as emergency legislation in May, with implementation the next month. Baker is also in support of DI having a legal tampering window like we see in the NFL.

Great insight from the podcast with @mikesbrown5. @utahbaseball

From a scouting perspective, Dustin’s mindset gets lost in the weeds too often in evaluating players. Identifying the talent makeup mindset was my main focus with the @Brewers. This isn’t just about someone being a good guy or a good kid. It’s way deeper than that. I would have listened to Dustin speak for 45 minutes and would have wanted every piece of him in our organization. Talent clearly matters but the separator in baseball are the winners.
Dustin Pedroia breaks down the origins of his "chip on my shoulder" mentality and what mindset he thinks young baseball players should have. "If we're playing a 9-inning baseball game, one guy is gonna help your team win. I'm gonna be that guy." @karlravechespn @JustinMusil

As a baseball scout, there are two concerning hitting characteristics with HS & College hitters that stand out more today than ever before. 1) No Plan At The Plate Successful hitters don’t just hope to get a hit—they know what pitch they’re hunting, they exercise zone awareness, they know what part of the field they’re trying to use, they know how to work counts, and how they’re going to attack pitch to pitch. They have a plan, they don’t just “wing it.” If you fail to plan—then plan to fail. 2) Lack Of Competing In The Box Every pitch is a battle. Fighting off tough pitches. Refusing to get beat. Making the pitcher earn every out. Competing in the box isn’t about the “result”—a hitter can go 0-4, but have four quality at bats. Competing in the box is about your approach, focus, and effort every single pitch. Yes, swing operation and talent matters, however a “plan” and a “competitive” mindset in the box separate good hitters from the rest. Never forget . . Success is never owned. It is only rented, and the rent is due everyday!
