Doing my part to fight e-waste by having PPL require only Android 4.1 (which was released July 2012). And people notice!

I released a new trailer to PPL, and took advantage of Google Play's A/B testing feature to figure out if it was an improvement or not. And yes, fortunately it's a (very slight) improvement. old: youtu.be/rcOcHClbkD4 new: youtu.be/cmdy9Bo29wM

makeavideo.studio/ is bananas, absolutely bananas. I'll be able to tell my grandkids "I was there" when seemingly every month something absolutely mind-melting was happening in the AI field.

Here's a riddle based on recent events: I fell while roller skating and now I'm terrified of getting covid. What happened?

In case you were wondering, today's background celebrates the International Day of Peace that is observed on September 21. I added this to the game back in March, but it's more relevant than ever.

What's crazy to me is that the heat that creates lava mostly comes from the accretion process (matter falling onto earth), ~4 billion years ago! The other big source of heat is radioactive decay.

While updating my website I thought I'd update to the latest Google Play icon. Unfortunately the Google Play badge page is not up to date. You have to appreciate the irony there.

GTA5 requires 108 GB. It's more expensive for me to *store* GTA5 (it uses ~1/10th of my $150 SSD), than it was for me to purchase it (I bought it when it was sales for ~$10).

When generating the lines for the CJK glyphs, I was ignoring the cubic bézier curves and just generating straight lines in between points. Results in fewer vertexes, improving perf and saving mem. In some cases (e.g. け), this resulted in polygons that self intersected.

Self intersecting polygons makes the subsequent skeletonization (to extract thin lines: doc.cgal.org/latest/Straight…) of the polygon fail! My quick fix is to interpolate along the bézier curve, but only for characters that have polygons that self-intersect.

Stripped the comments and some whitespace from the shaders and the Lua that is shipped in PPL: Saved 155KB! (before compression) A possible next step would be to pre-compile the Lua, which should make the loading of Lua scripts be even faster.

I feel like the term "midwit" is taking off. A couple of months ago I had never heard of it, and this weekend alone I saw it on 3 different occasions. Based on the usage I've seen, you use it when you want to call someone stupid, but in a smart sounding way.
