Took us almost 2 hours to extract, and purify 9 microliters of a DNA from a soil sample. Our students had an authentic lab experience with a 33 step protocol. Excited for Ss to PCR, run a gel, and and contribute to the citizen science PARE data base. #FHCsci

Sometimes you have to go into school on a 4 day weekend to make sure your Ss have given water to their bugs to make sure everything is alive and well when we return. #FHCsci

At the @MIBioTeachers conference this week and I saw a 30 year veteran teacher who may be retiring in a year take notes and have discussion about improvements to his classes. He shared his wisdom and networked with others. This is what educators do. This is our summer.

Spent over an hour with my co-teaching partner going over our years successes, challenges and setting goals for the next school year. It takes a lot of time and energy to make sure all students have an equitable opportunity to be successful. Ready for the next one!

What they don’t teach you in teacher school is how much time you’ll spend setting up labs and doing dishes. 😂 #FHCsci
