We had a wonderful surprise visit this morning. These two Precious Angels fill our hearts and lives with pure love and joy. ❤️❤️ @TFerrellJr3#GrandparentsDay
Had dinner at Jus Crab, this evening. I highly recommend this place if you like good food and good vibes. Visit a black restaurant, this week and beyond. @rbrexperience
Nearly 1 in 3 HS girls said they had considered suicide, a 60% rise in the past decade. Nearly 15% had been forced to have sex. About 6 in 10 girls were so persistently sad or hopeless they stopped regular activities.

I really had no plans to speak today, but when my republican colleagues made light of those of us on this side of the aisle who have personally experienced gun violence, I had to say something…I will NEVER remain silent about the pain gun violence is causing families.
Delegate @CandiMundonKing: “Why should anyone be allowed to have a higher caliber, more powerful weapon than my husband who goes out every day in uniform who has trained and served his community with pride for years?”
Today I presented budget amendments to get Virginia school counselors to 1 for every 250 students (the national rec) and to prop up a tutoring corps that could get into our schools and help the students most in need in the aftermath of Covid.
These would ⬆️ academic achievement!
Surface level conversations will never lead to deep, sustained equity work. You must be courageous, transparent, vulnerable, honest, and data driven. You can do this, but your determination to do what is best for children must overpower your desire to pacify adults. #OnPurpose
I’m 5 weeks in as a new Admin Asst. in high school. I’ve learned many, many things, but THIS has become crystal clear: the work of School Counselors is both staggering & stunning. I stand in awe of you all. I never knew, but I do now. Thank you, @vbschools Counselors.💛💙💛🖤❤️💙
"Quiet quitting" isn't laziness. Doing the bare minimum is a common response to bullshit jobs, abusive bosses, and low pay.
When they don't feel cared about, people eventually stop caring.
If you want them to go the extra mile, start with meaningful work, respect, and fair pay.
“Why are we willing to live with this carnage. Why are we letting this happen. Where in God’s name is our backbone…it’s time to turn this pain into action.” @POTUS
As a father of a second grader, I cannot stop thinking about it. I was at Newtown before I had children. It was gut-wrenching. Nowit’s just…..just no words.
Across the country, parents are putting their children to bed, reading stories, singing lullabies—and in the back of their minds, they’re worried about what might happen tomorrow after they drop their kids off at school, or take them to a grocery store or any other public space.
As an educator, trained in active shooter response. As a school counselor, trained in mental health. As a mom, of elementary-aged babies… I ask, yet again: when is enough, enough? We can’t react our way to prevention. Something has to change. 💔

This isn’t new, we’re choosing not to act, in any capacity.
