The Greenville LNG Hub is expected to generate significant multiplier effects across the state’s economy, including:
- Lower transportation costs, reducing cost of goods and services.
- Affordable fuel for power generation, improving electricity reliability.
- Enhanced cold storage capacity for agricultural produce.
- Increased industrial productivity and SME competitiveness.
- Direct and indirect job creation, contributing to crime reduction.
- Increased state revenue and private sector income opportunities.
- Improved quality of life through cleaner and more affordable energy.
The project complements Katsina State’s ongoing investments in renewable energy, the hybridization of the state wind farm with solar photovoltaic systems and battery storage systems, solar mini-grids and stand-alone systems in rural communities, markets, and public institutions, and other rural electrification initiatives. By integrating gas-based energy solutions alongside renewables, the state is adopting a balanced energy transition strategy that prioritises affordability, reliability, and environmental responsibility.
