I hosted my first European Film Club this week at the Kino-Teatr in St Leonards-on-Sea. Our first film was Breathless and was followed with a post-screening discussion and Q&A. Next one is in May!

We are saddened to hear that former Royal Borislav Mihaylov has passed away aged 63.
A legendary figure in Bulgarian football, Boris arrived at Elm Park for a club-record fee in 1995 and made 24 appearances for the club.
Our thoughts are with his friends and family at this difficult time.

The discourse around Emerald Fennell's "Wuthering Heights" is so interesting to me. It feels like it could be a sequel to GDT's Frankenstein in some ways: Elordi's Heathcliff is even called a monster in it. She treats the source novel in a similar way to GDT but gets vilified...

...in an entirely more vitriolic way than GDT. "Wuthering Heights" has Fennell's strong personal voice and is stripped back, camp, and unsubtle like her other films. It also asks us to examine the state of cinema today, and is also a film about women for women.

It is a more interesting, relevant, needle-moving, and salient film than the overblown and forgettable Hamnett, too. And yet that is getting nominated for awards all over. Fascinating!

If The Bone Temple so readily references popular culture in its inclusion and celebration of Duran Duran, Radiohead, and Iron Maiden, and in its nod to Spinal Tap, why does nobody mention Jimmy Savile? Also, Dr Kelson was clearly harbouring an incredible PA somewhere!
