Under explicit pressure from Rishi Sunak, judges have closed the door on legal challenges to PPE procurement. They’ve said, remarkably, that there is no public interest in how public money gets spent. But we think there is. Agree? Support us here: goodlaw.social/kgb

Is it right to judge via tv? It doesn’t give both sides the legal representation to state their case. #Dispatches

National Highways admit the scheme would increase carbon emissions by 2.5 million tonnes over its lifetime! At a time when we need to rapidly reduce emissions, this decision flies in the face of the recommendations of the climate change committee bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-wi…

No! @TonyJuniper No! Tunnelling will smash up anything of archaeological interest underground in the area, as well as potentially destabilising the stones themselves. We have to reduce traffic, not pander to it. #Stonehenge No to the tunnel!
Having been in the field there with partners a few times I welcome this. I appreciate counter views, but one point not spoken of much is the opportunity for landscape-scale Nature recovery that the tunnel unlocks, & which will also be good for archaeology. bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-wi…

Two miles of road, costing almost £1bn a mile, destroying a World Heritage site, whilst everything else in the country falls apart
BREAKING: The Stonehenge tunnel is going ahead. The Transport Secretary has granted a Development Consent Order (DCO) to construct it. A DCO previously issued for the project was quashed by the High Court in July 2021 amid concern about the environmental impact.

They should simply not build this road. Every penny spent on it is wasted.

Shocked that Mark Harper, Secretary of State for Transport, has granted development consent for the A303 tunnel. Agree with @holland_tom , this would be "an act of vandalism that shames Britain". No other country would do this to such a precious landscape. salisburyjournal.co.uk/news/…

There is no difference between the Tories' decision to destroy #Stonehenge & the Taliban's destruction of the Bamiyan buddhas or Isis destroying Palmyra @SaveStonehenge & compare too the fuss Tory-types make when @JustStop_Oil interrupt the precious cricket, tennis or racing 🔥
Government decision to desecrate our World Heritage Site with a £2.5bn dual carriageway flies in the face of UNESCO’s advice. Irrational said the High Court last time.  What will the Court say this time? crowdjustice.com/case/save-s…

Break: Transport Secretary Mark Harper greenlights the controversial #Stonehenge Tunnel and A303 upgrade. However, legal hurdles may still remain and cost may also be a factor in the decision as to whether the scheme is actually built by Highways England. bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-wi…

Absolutely ridiculous to force this through. 1. It’s a UNESCO World Heritage Site 2. The High Court deemed it unlawful 3. Cost of living crisis and this will cost billions #SaveStonehenge

Just today the Government have approved the £2.5 billion A303 #Stonehenge road through the World Heritage Site, driving up carbon emissions. That's a £2.5bn white elephant if ever there was one. #SaveStonehenge transportactionnetwork.org.u…
