Hi everyone, huge announcement here, I'm super happy to say that our Kickstarter for the Indie Game we've been putting so much time and love into for the past few years is up! If you want to help support any of the work I've been putting in, it would mean the world to me and the dev team if you checked out our project and considered backing the project. I spend my time checking for YCHs and Skeb specifically because of the time aspect (I don't have the time to come up with mood boards, sourced poses and written descriptions) and I use the YCH or Skeb format to check artist turnaround times. The logic?

If youβre wondering why youβre not getting VGen clients - hereβs something Iβve learned after doing 70 comms this year.
Most people donβt really want to order a custom illustration where they have to come up with the whole concept, write a clear, detailed description, and gather a bunch of refs for every little thing. If thatβs the only thing youβre offering - you might be missing a big part of the audience.
They love stuff with a clear result (like YCHs or eye/head banners) and minimal effort to order (skeb, "surprise me"): just drop a character ref, pay, and wait.
Itβs often not even about the price or that your skill "isn't good enough for comms".

If they can hit on/under deadlines for YCH or Skebs then, barring any emergencies, I'm more confident they can hit a deadline for a custom illustration.
It's not a perfect system, but it's lower stakes if I test the waters at this service level - at worst, I'm out $50-$150ish.

I will still send some references to other styles of work in their existing portfolio on Skeb service, but at the end of the day, I'll still leave it open ended for artist freedom π₯°
YCHs and Skebs are a blessing for people looking for a specific quality in a preset format π₯Ίπ

Gatekeeping is good, actually, when it comes to properly defining what Vtubing is so it doesn't get hijacked by faceless AI "gurus" telling people to go make VTuber models while slapping AI generated voices and content on it to dodge around Yotubes recent crackdown.

I saw a post already advising people to use a Vtuber to "lean into the artifical" when at its core, VTubing is human driven, there's a real perfomer behind it.
This is the kind of gatekeeping that should be done.

I've had a very quiet 2025 on here.
Had good things happen and started the healing process, but kept alot to myself because I didn't want it taken away from me.
But I don't want to spend another year underground, so I'm going to start writing posts again and use my voice.

There's no real grand goals here.
The goals I have written down are for projects I'm working on, so there's a focus...just keeping it to myself until the end of 2026. But there's general ones I can share, like do more Pokemon community stuff and make my spaces happier/cleaner π₯Ί

My opinion? Based on the signals I was getting from the interactions of the account, the company profile and headcount on Linkedin, the age of the event and subsequent histories of the leadership would have made me personally not progress forward with such an event.

My personal conclusions aside, if you follow this outline of checking through socials, Linkedin, checking to see if a company or potentially associated companies or owners of various companies have active buisness registries, you can navigate these types of asks with confidence.
