Thanks @OntariosDoctors for highlighting the catastrophic physician shortage unfolding in the North.
Travelling next week to Red Lake to help out the 2.25 full-time MDs covering the 4000 patients in town.
We need a plan for the North.

Dr. @Dannica_Switzer is a physician travelling to rural and northern hospitals to help amidst a growing physician shortage. However, these temporary solutions do not resolve the deeper structural issues in our health-care system.

Ted Nolan remembers being young and asking his mother why she never taught them to speak Ojibwe, and how she said the residential schools would beat those who spoke the language, or even nail their tongues to a board. He remembers she cried.
Nolan: “When people say ‘Just get over it,’ I mean, how the heck do you just get over that? It’s going to take a little while. It’s going to take a lot of patience.”
