What is it like to hold 10 years of work in one hand?Surreal! My book #TheImposterPhenomenon is out now! It's not called the #impostersyndrome for good reason... it's NOT a pathological condition. But it can be debilitating if you experience frequent or intense imposter feelings

I’ve been quiet of late as it’s been hugely busy… moving house was just one part of the jigsaw puzzle. But the biggest piece was getting my writing on the #imposterphenomenon into print and it is now published!! Let me know what you think 🙏

Putting the finishing touches to the first draft of my book on the #imposterphenomenon (it's not a syndrome!). @samfendermusic requested an 'imposter handbook' in his discussion with @drchatterjeeuk back in August 2021. It's on its way... to be published by @pearson

A trip into London for an in person keynote today. I truly don’t think there’s much between in person vs online when delivering a talk. BUT the big difference is in the casual conversations that happen afterwards when face to face. People rarely hang around on Zoom…

Maybe @AngliaRuskin could do this? Might be therapeutic to take a hammer to my thesis?! Esp as I have my viva next Wednesday 😬🤞
Sweden has the odd PhD tradition of Lutherishly nailing your thesis to a wall a few weeks before your defense, so here is my PhD student Vidya Somashekarappa nailing her thesis into the designated thesis nailing wall (officially required btw).

A truly inspiring thread. My older sister died from leukaemia in 1989 aged 24, even though she had a BM transplant from my younger sister. I've been a supporter of @AnthonyNolan ever since and am on the register. Do join the register if you can. #50yearsofhope
Jessie was one of Ruby’s best mates. In year 10 they hatched a plan to one day be PM & Deputy PM. In year 11 they were appointed head girl & deputy head girl at their school, @TCSDulwich - & they joked that this was the first step on their path to #10 🧵1/n

I love the idea of "structured improvisation" @HelenBevan It's soemthing I have been doing in my presentations for many years but never named as such (my learning came from debating competitions and many improv classes)

Giving a talk or presentation? Here's some excellent advice - four ways to crush it: 1) Understand your audience: "What do really want to know about my topic & why does it matter to them?” 2) Practice "structured improvisation": Most speakers are either "scripters" (stick to a pre-prepared script) or "wingers" (wing it). Be both. 3) Strike a balance between data & stories: Based on the needs of the audience 4) Set a goal to educate or provide insight, not impress: it's about learning for the audience, not about you. insight.kellogg.northwestern… Via @KelloggSchool. "Building high-performance teams: 4 essential leadership principles": 1) Cultivate psychological safety within teams 2) Assume positive intent for better collaboration 3) Shift the energy of disagreement with active listening 4) Focus on what you can control (and on what matters) A super, hopeful article with lots of links & great graphics: medium.com/parsa-vc/building….
