Athens Photo Festival. I was proud to see Kaleidoscope on display in the museum with all the other shortlisted books for the Pick:24 Book Award. I was struck by varied & compelling stories in all these books, & indeed the powerful photographic storytelling in all the exhibits.

New today on my PhotoVogue portfolio, from my ongoing Metamorphoses series. It’s been hard to make new work with my mother or at her house recently; metaphor is where it’s at for me right now.

I’m giving a paper and taking part in a panel discussion at this symposium in July. It’s a 2-day multidisciplinary symposium on the intersections between photography and autobiographical memory. Really looking forward to the event. Details & tickets here: uca.ac.uk/events/research/ve…

Metamorphoses - new on my Photovogue portfolio today. I have dozens of these ‘metamorphoses’ images - can’t seem to stop seeing the scenes everywhere I go. More likely I’m seeking them out. They speak to the myths I loved as a kid & the echoes of those stories down the centuries.

It used to be almost a point of principle with me not to have sky in my woodland pictures. Tangled in thicketry, no way out. But recently I’ve been revisiting the photography of Paul Nash so I’ve been out looking for my own Monster Fields. Seems apt for the times.
