Russell Westbrook, an investor in OKC’s new multipurpose stadium, says his involvement in the stadium district began during his years with the Thunder.
“It started, honestly, when I was playing here [OKC]. Just creating relationships, creating connections with people that care about the city, care about the community, and using those relationships as I— I obviously played away from Oklahoma City, but I always stay connected in some shape or form… I want to be able to do something big in Oklahoma City that is a blueprint and a foundation for the city for years to come.”
The new 10,000-seat outdoor venue, which will open in 2028, will be the home for Oklahoma City’s pro football and soccer teams and will also host concerts and other sporting events.
