June 15th is the official “Junior Call Day”, marking the first day NCAA D1 coaches can call & text rising juniors. Some will get calls, some may not. Remember that it’s just the beginning, not the end — so play the long game. Everyone has their own journey & timeline, so it’s important to be dialed in on the realities of how college coaches approach recruiting & align yourself with that process. Once upon a time, 20 college coaches called my daughter on Day 1 but Utah Tech University (the school she eventually signed with) was not even on our radar. They stepped in right before she was ready to commit to another school & changed my daughter’s life trajectory. Utah Tech was the right player-staff REALationship & program culture that we were hunting for. Don’t chase hype, buzz, or social media clout. Build REALationships, chase development, learn about program culture, resources for on/off the field/court matter, & eventually negotiations should make sense. All the best, y’all.

First and foremost, I want to thank God for blessing me and guiding me throughout this school year. I also want to thank my family, teachers, and coaches for continually encouraging me and pushing me to achieve the goals I set for myself. I am proud to have finished the entire school year on the A Honor Roll while taking all Honors classes. I also finished the year ranked #8 out of 254 students in my class. One of my biggest accomplishments this year was passing both of my TSI exams, which allowed me to begin taking college courses for dual credit. This achievement gives me the opportunity to earn college credits while still in high school and brings me one step closer to my future goals. I am grateful for everyone's support and encouragement.
