Really pleased that our study has been published and will provide evidence on what happens to bacteria and viruses when drying hands, an important consideration in IPC, the results might surprise you. @KeevilW @cabryant1968 @_lucysutton @sotonbiosci @unisouthampton @ukbiofilms

great to see this work published from @Fergus_Watson's PhD. We often don't think about reporting on methods but it is needed. Exciting to see how we can learn more about dry #biofilms in the built environment. @sotonbiosci @ukbiofilms @KeevilW go.shr.lc/49ZoVuX

Some years ago we also used continuous culture with Desferal titration to achieve iron limitation with the benefit of controlled growth rate. Sometimes supposed iron restriction or limitation actually mask reduced growth rate profound effects

bbc.co.uk/news/uk-66737714 At last! As someone who has participated in and also led research and industry orientated projects funded by the EU, I know this announcement will restore our EU/international collaborations, increase research synergy and leverage funding. A good day.

After a busy few days, time to reflect on the surprise invitation to last week's Coronation Garden Pary hosted by William & Kate - real charisma. England was battered with thunderstorms but the Palace was bathed in sunshine, of course. Met some fascinating people from all walks.

doi.org/10.1186/s40793-023-0… Great to see our soil resistome paper just published. Results using H218O show microbes grow in presence of antibiotics even in agricultural soil with no-antibiotic history. Metagenome data shed light on diversity of AMR genes of the resistant microbiome.
