MJ aside, music biopics in general have got to be one of the most washed genres. Absolutely awful ratio of how many actually have anything insightful to say about their subject vs how many are just Wikipedia summaries with music videos attached

I guess it's because if they want to use the actual music they have to license it from the artist or their estate, which lets them put all sorts of conditions on it to stop the movie from being too honest and instead just make them nostalgia pumps
