30yrs ago.....I was one of those kids.... nobody was home to take me. I either walked or a coach came and got me......in 2026 you cant do this anymore......
If a kid has to call a coach for a ride to practice because the adults in his life won't take him, we've already identified the biggest obstacle to that kid's successโand it isn't the kid.
Proud of my daughter. Associate of Science Degree from Navarro College while in high school. Its a great feeling to be able to give your kid what you didnt have. Being a single dad for the first 11yrs of her life challenged me in a lot of ways. Grateful for the journey
Never forget the people who helped you. Coach J knew my home environment sucked. He bought me food, bought me shoes, paid entry fees to tournaments, gave rides to practices. Gave a poor kid a chance at life. Remember the ones who were there when you had nothing. ๐
remember the first week of college football, players were quitting because it was too hard and a kid quit after first conditioning test. My DB coach asked why I didn't quit. Told him. I didn't have a place to go back to. you dont get to choose the environment you grow up in.
Finding ways to skip adversity won't help you in the real world. Social media has allowed young people to think everything is easy and only minimal work is required.
