I am very proud to be part of the amazing team of researchers, scientists and clinicians who are all co-authors of the important research publication just released in Nature Medicine. The paper documents changes in my brain tumour & blood before and after I received neoadjuvant systemic combination immunotherapy treatment, which occurred in 2023.
Everyone involved, including lead authors Georgina Long and Helen Rizos, used their expertise, knowledge and creative intellect to generate this important data just released.
Whilst the paper deals with the data from just one patient (me), ultimately a clinical trial of a large group of patients needs to be conducted to determine whether or not neoadjuvant (pretreatment) combination immunotherapy is clinically effective in (a subgroup of) brain cancer patients. I hope such a trial begins in the not too distant future.
Congratulations to everyone who has contributed to this research. What a fantastic achievement!
But this is only the beginning & much more research is required to improve treatment and outcomes and ultimately save lives.

Introducing constellation mapped read technology. This new tech simplifies the NGS workflow with on-flow-cell library prep while unlocking long-range genomic insights from existing NovaSeq™ X systems.
Enhanced mapping. Ultra-long phasing. Better SV detection. bit.ly/4gFaobu
ALT Figure 3a shows clusters generated from the flow cell are organized into distinct templates, visually represented in different colors. Within each template, the clusters are sequentially arranged based on their genomic coordinates. The connections between paired reads are annotated with their corresponding genomic distances.

The 2024 #NobelPrize laureates in chemistry Demis Hassabis and John Jumper have successfully utilised artificial intelligence to predict the structure of almost all known proteins.
In 2020, Hassabis and Jumper presented an AI model called AlphaFold2. With its help, they have been able to predict the structure of virtually all the 200 million proteins that researchers have identified. Since their breakthrough, AlphaFold2 has been used by more than two million people from 190 countries. Among a myriad of scientific applications, researchers can now better understand antibiotic resistance and create images of enzymes that can decompose plastic.

Lab Tour! I know I shouldn't be surprised. But...
@illumina has a room, full of sequencers, as far as you could lay your eyes on! From the big NovaSeq X to the little MiSeq.
One can only imagine the sort of data being generated here everyday!
And this is just ONE of the rooms😲
