Result: Punchbowl Flyer WINS the 16:33 Chepstow (Engstaff-In Birthday Handicap)!
What a performance from the old boy! He made it three C&D wins and absolutely delivered on the free tip.
Race Summary:
Punchbowl Flyer (15/8 joint-favourite) led or disputed throughout under a confident ride from Alexandra Egan. He battled on strongly in the final furlong to win by a very comfortable 1¼ lengths from Autumn Angel, with Whitesnake a further 1½ lengths back in third. Too Much Trevor (the recent C&D winner) could only manage fourth after a slow start.
The 9-year-old veteran looked right back to his best on the Good ground, showing that trademark tactical speed to sit handy and kick on when it mattered. The 7lb claim from Alexandra Egan was again a huge plus, and the horse clearly loves this straight 6f at Chepstow.Key Points from the Preview That Landed:
Dual (now triple) C&D winner who knows every yard.
Excellent second over C&D just 9 days earlier — turned the form around with the weight pull.
Trainer John O’Shea and jockey Alexandra Egan in great form.
Reliable warrior on the right track and right conditions.
Patreon Members who backed him at 11/4 to 3/1 (or the early 9/4) will be smiling — a very solid winner at a fair price.
Huge credit to connections, especially owner Bill Hawkins and the team, for keeping this admirable veteran firing. Punchbowl Flyer continues to be a proper Chepstow specialist and a joy to follow.
Well done if you were on — let’s keep the momentum rolling!
