The small hive beetle may be introduced to Ireland UK
@BeeEquipmentLtd is intending to use a scandalous loop hole to import honey bee packages from Italy via Ireland. This will have a devastating impact on our honey bee populations.

This little orange coloured plug of what looks like play dough, is actually pollen.
Forager bees collect it in pollen pockets on their rear legs and when they return to the hive, house bees remove it and store it for autumn and winter food 🧡

The colony’s are prepping for autumn and winter with lots of various pollens being brought into the hive. Often the pollen is packed at the bottom of the cells like this then topped up with honey🐝
