Without a hope of winning in deep blue LA, Spencer Pratt was actually a project. There was much invested in the commerce around a Pratt vs Bass race, not least of which was Rupert Murdoch's California (NY) Post.
"There was no imaginable way that Spencer Pratt was ever going to top maybe a quarter of the vote in Los Angeles" – @HaroldMeyerson @TheProspect explains – on @thenation podcast bit.ly/4v8xnDa

Today, Elon Musk, a trillionaire, pays the same amount into Social Security as someone making $184,500. If we end that absurdity and lift the cap on taxable income, we can make Social Security solvent for 75 years and expand benefits by $2,400. My Social Security bill does that.

In my whole life covering politics I can really think of one story where there was what you might call systemic fraud - conspiracy to cast many fraudulent votes - and it the statistical fingerprint made it obvious and the NC GOP operative who did it got nabbed and prosecuted.

Ask Maine voters why they're not more focused on personal details of candidates right now.
Q: Are you concerned about the latest inflation numbers that came out this morning? TRUMP: No, I love it. I love the inflation. You know why? Because as soon as this war is over -- do you know we've been taking out millions of barrels of oil? Nobody knows it. You know who doesn't know? Iran until right now.

More than a few people who were barking this morning that California Dems had rigged the election against Pratt are currently congratulating Steve Hilton on making the gubernatorial runoff without any recognition that these two things don't compute

I ask once again...
What is going to fill the pages of Murdoch's California Post now that Pratt is done?

The shock and anger over Pratt's fate is a direct result of turning Twitter into a conservative cocoon. A taste of what's coming in November. Just a taste.

Exactly. R's like the optics of the "red mirage" so that they can complain about it. They prefer it that way in the event they come up short they'll have a ready explanation.

When Democrats tried in 2020 to get Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Wisconsin to count early votes early—like Florida—Republicans killed the bills so Trump could win day-of-voting tallies and try to throw out mail in ballots. It’s a scam for people Trump thinks are stupid.

This is good rule of thumb.
If you listened to a podcaster or pundit telling you Pratt would win, maybe stop listening to them…

Spencer Pratt finishing with a lower % of the vote than Trump got in 2024 is a very good reminder of the echo chamber that Twitter has created around this election
DDHQ Race Update (est. 87% in): Los Angeles Mayor Primary Karen Bass (N): 250,871 (34.7%) Nithya Raman (N): 196,198 (27.1%) Spencer Pratt (N): 193,085 (26.7%)

Anderson Cooper's final sign off on 60 Minutes was “I hope 60 Minutes remains 60 Minutes.” For that one sentence his executive producer Tania Simon was fired. That's how insecure Bari Weiss is.
