2026 World Cup Opens in Mexico City with Big Concert
The 2026 World Cup opening ceremony took place at Azteca Stadium in Mexico City on June 11. Shakira and Burna Boy performed the official World Cup song 'Dai Dai' at the event.
They were joined by J Balvin, Alejandro Fernández and Tyla. The ceremony came before the Group A match between Mexico and South Africa.
Azteca Stadium has now hosted matches at three different World Cups. Those were in 1970, 1986 and 2026.
The 2026 World Cup has 3 opening ceremonies across North America. Canada and the United States will hold their ceremonies on June 12. Unions and other groups planned to protest at the stadium during the ceremony.
