My very talented teacher friend @MissGeorge90 just posted some wonderings about moving students off decodable texts. Itās a Q many Tās grapple with. Expert responses appreciated!
3 - Or do you just gradually provide texts with a bigger variety of sounds/letter combinations over say, a term, and ideally studentsā decoding skills will keep up with this? Appreciate peopleās thoughts š
2 - At what point do you begin to move students away from reading strictly decodable texts and onto more āregularā (or less phonically controlled) texts? Is there a certain set of prerequisite skills youād want to see a student demonstrating?

First day Term 3. Quality teaching, based on routines and expectations. Kids happy and learning. I reflected on literacy data, ā¬ļøfor our kids, all based on post-uni PD. I walked around asking myself āwhere did we learn to implement this? Or this?ā Please listen. ITE needs reform.
