Frozen Shoulder: A Hidden Complication of Diabetes. Most people associate diabetes with complications affecting the eyes, kidneys, nerves, and heart. But there is another often-overlooked complication: musculoskeletal disorders. Research and clinical experience show that people with diabetes are more likely to develop: • Frozen shoulder • Trigger finger • Tendon disorders • Joint stiffness and reduced mobility • Chronic musculoskeletal pain Why does this happen? Persistently elevated blood glucose can lead to the formation of Advanced Glycation End Products (AGEs), which may make collagen and connective tissues stiffer and less flexible. Chronic inflammation and impaired tissue repair may further contribute to these problems. In fact, frozen shoulder is reported to be several times more common in people with diabetes than in the general population. My recommendations: • Don't ignore shoulder pain, stiffness, or reduced range of motion. • Prioritize good metabolic health and blood sugar control. • Address insulin resistance early, rather than waiting for diabetes to develop. • Include regular resistance training and mobility exercises. • Ensure adequate protein intake to support muscle and connective tissue health. • Stay physically active and avoid prolonged sedentary behavior. Diabetes is not just a blood sugar disorder. It can affect the entire body, including muscles, tendons, ligaments, joints, and connective tissue. Perhaps it's time we paid more attention to metabolic health before these complications appear.

The Insulin Resistance Tree Bookmark and share this. Research has linked insulin resistance and hyperinsulinemia to a wide range of metabolic disorders, including: • Type 2 diabetes • Obesity • Fatty liver disease • PCOS • Hypertension • Cardiovascular disease • Elevated triglycerides • Metabolic syndrome • Gout Emerging research is also exploring its links with conditions such as cognitive decline, dementia, inflammation, and other chronic diseases. The challenge is that insulin resistance can remain undetected for years while blood glucose levels still appear "normal." Perhaps it's time to move beyond a glucose-centric view of health and pay more attention to the underlying metabolic dysfunction. The branches may look different. But in many cases, the root may be the same. Understanding insulin resistance may be one of the first steps toward understanding the modern metabolic health crisis.

Having diabetes and continuing to eat large amounts of carbohydrates while relying on medications is like mopping the floor while the tap is still running. Reducing carbohydrates is like turning off the tap first. Which approach do you prefer? I chose the second approach more than 10 years ago. Since then, I have regularly shared my lab reports publicly - not as a theory, but as real-world evidence that a lower-carbohydrate approach can help many people achieve excellent metabolic health and long-term Type 2 Diabetes remission. Turn off the tap first. Then see how much mopping is still needed.

Left Facebook years ago and signed up for Instagram for reasons of privacy and its fresh appeal. Now the same people are on Instagram. Time to find another social media platform to get away.

Nirbhaya Again 🚨 Delhi, woman gang-raped inside a bus. While returning home from factory, driver and conductor of a sleeper bus pulled her inside and raped her. Around 2 am, the perpetrators dropped her on the road and fled. Both arrested. 14 years, nothing changed 😔

Nobody accidentally feels great at 50. It's always intentional. They lift weights. Strength is what keeps them doing the things they love for the next thirty years. They eat protein at every meal. It's what their body uses to build muscle, repair tissue, and stay full longer. They walk after dinner. Ten minutes is enough to steady blood sugar and help digestion before bed. They take care of their joints before they're forced to. Daily movement, strength work, and collagen are what keep cartilage and tendons resilient. They take balance seriously. Hip strength, ankle stability, single-leg work, to protect them when life moves unpredictably. They prioritize sleep. The body does its real repair work overnight, and there's no substitute for it. They drink less than they used to. Sleep, energy, mood, and skin all improve when alcohol takes a back seat. They eat dinner earlier. Giving the body time to digest before bed makes mornings noticeably better. They protect their sleep window. Same bedtime, cool dark room, screens off early, the basics still work.
They get their hormones checked. Your 50s come with real shifts, and knowing what's happening makes everything easier to address.
