Interviewer: There is a buzz that India doesn't support football, and many people believe cricket is the main reason behind it. What is your take on that?
Ravi Shastri :- Honestly, I think that argument makes no sense. Cricket was not always this popular, before the 1983 World Cup it did not have the same following either. The team performed, won, and gave people a reason to support the sport. You cannot just sit at home and complain that nobody supports football. Many people blame cricket or BCCI, but why would BCCI support football, it is the Board of Control for "Cricket" in India. Look at Neeraj Chopra, before him javelin throw had very little attention, but his success made people interested. The same goes for Sunil Chhetri, he is respected because he proved himself. Instead of blaming cricket, football needs more performances and achievements that can inspire people and bring them closer to the sport. I hope you understood my point.
Loved the way Ravi Shastri spoke facts and shut down the excuses of those so-called football fans❤️✍️
