If you want a biblical doctrine of God the Father, you'll want to have on hand traditional trinitarian categories like perichoresis, inseparable works, and appropriation. All of these help us grasp Jesus' teaching "If you have seen me, you have seen the Father."

Excited to welcome Dr. David Rathel to Talbot Seminary. David Rathel received his PhD from the University of St Andrews in Scotland and his ThM and MDiv degrees from Southeastern Seminary in Wake Forest, NC. He is the author of a monograph with T&T Clark, several contributed chapters in volumes released by such publishers as Mercer University Press, and peer-reviewed journal articles that have appeared in such journals as Journal of Reformed Theology, American Baptist Quarterly, Baptist Quarterly, and Southeastern Theological Review. For the past seven years, he has served at Gateway Seminary in Ontario, California, most recently as Professor of Christian Theology and Director of the PhD and ThM Program. Dr. Rathel desires to connect the academic study of theology with the needs and concerns of local church life. This desire emerged from more than years of service as a minister for churches of various denominations in the US and Scotland. Welcome to @TalbotTheology, David!
NEW to the @TalbotTheology team. I’m delighted to share that Dr. John Goodrich will be joining our team as the new Associate Dean for our undergraduate programs. Dr. Goodrich grew up in Orange County and earned his bachelor’s degree in Bible and Theology from Moody Bible Institute. He later completed both the Master of Divinity and Master of Theology degrees at Talbot School of Theology while serving as a staff pastor in Southern California churches. He went on to earn a PhD in New Testament Studies from Durham University in the United Kingdom. Following his doctoral studies, Dr. Goodrich served for fourteen years on the faculty of Moody Bible Institute. Since January 2025, he has served as Dean of Academics and Professor of Biblical Studies at Compass Bible Institute in Aliso Viejo, California. He is a member of the Evangelical Theological Society, the Society of Biblical Literature, and the Society for New Testament Studies. He is also the author or editor of numerous books and scholarly articles. Welcome, John, to Talbot! More faculty announcements coming!

To become a theologian requires your reason to be condemned and redeemed and thereby sanctified for reasoning along the contours of the gospel. A reflection on John Webster. Link in comments.
