The Chargers safety room had THREE players grade in the top-30 in coverage in 2025.
Derwin James-5th (83.7) 16 games
RJ Mickens-17th (73.4) 12 games
Tony Jefferson-26th (70.3) 13 games
The unit ranked first in passer rating allowed (56.3)
Yielded the second -fewest first downs in coverage (25)
And finished second in the league in interceptions (10).
Looking to build off that success in 2026, add in Elijah Molden who will be looking to return to 2024 form, Kendall Williamson, a valuable special teams contributor and rookie Genesis Smith, a true center-fielding free safety.
Excited to see what safeties coach Adam Fuller has in store going into his second season, for one of the better position groups on this team that isn’t talked about enough.
