We also found that more children who attended an author visit read daily in their free time and make use of their school library.
TLDR: Author visits have a positive impact on children and young peopleโs reading and writing engagement, especially among those on free school meals

Author visits have declined since 2019 when more than 1 in 4 children told us they had been to one.
Schools with a high intake of pupils on free school meals are least likely to receive an author visit despite these children benefiting the most from these experiences.
