These images are real. The bullet holes in the patrol vehicle and the officer’s ballistic vest are real. The facts are our officers are encountering suspects that are more heavily armed than last year--which was higher than the year before. These officers took fire from a suspect who caused a vehicle pursuit. That suspect was willing to kill police officers to avoid arrest. This is the risk our officers take on every single day. By the grace of God, yesterday was a good day for the LAPD. Our officer is safe and the suspect is in custody. But as we know all too well, that is not how the story ends every time. A Valley Glen homeowner got quite the surprise while cleaning out her garage Thursday morning: 20 sticks of live dynamite hidden inside an old freezer. LAPD bomb squad personnel responded to the home, evacuated nearby residents as a precaution, and safely recovered the explosives. The homeowner stated they had no idea the dynamite was there or how it ended up in the garage. Detectives are investigating to determine where the explosives came from. Two suspects dressed in black and wearing face paint were arrested after allegedly attempting to break into an Ulta Beauty store in Canoga Park early Monday morning. LAPD officers tracked the pair to a nearby business after receiving reports of a burglary in progress. The FBI released its annual Officers Killed and Assaulted in the Line of Duty report, showing 53 law enforcement officers were feloniously killed in 2025 while assaults against officers reached their highest level in the past decade. The report, compiled through the FBI’s Uniform Crime Reporting Program, included data voluntarily submitted by law enforcement agencies nationwide. According to the FBI, agencies reported 90,178 assaults on officers in 2025, equating to 13.8 assaults per 100 officers. A 22-year-old man suspected of being connected to a South American theft group linked to roughly 25 burglaries across Los Angeles was arrested after allegedly breaking into a West L.A. home while the resident hid in a bathroom and called 911, according to the LAPD. Police say officers caught the suspect, identified as Kevin Diaz, after a brief foot pursuit outside the residence. Raman repeatedly went over time, struggled with direct questions, and failed to project confidence in key moments. At 90 years old, Marlene “Mrs. Willis” (Yes, Bruce’s mom) has quietly become a cornerstone of the LAPD’s West LA station, dedicating more than two decades of volunteer service to supporting officers and staff. Known for her warmth and consistency, she spends several days each week reviewing reports, assisting with administrative work, and offering something just as valuable: genuine care for those returning from difficult calls. Despite being Bruce Willis's mother, she never draws attention to it, instead choosing to focus entirely on serving what she calls her second family: the LAPD. Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office Sergeant Michael Schlattman was tragically involved in a fatal crash 2 weeks ago while on duty patrolling the East Mountains. He was an incredible leader, co-worker, partner, son, brother and all around human being. He lit up every room he walked into. Every memory involving Michael brings smiles, laughter and uplifts spirits. A fundraiser for his widow Tara has been setup so she can focus solely on mourning the love of her life. Today marks the 5th year anniversary of the EOW for LAPD Police Officer II Jose Luis Anzora. On February 26, 2021, Officer Anzora was hit by a vehicle while conducting traffic control. Officer Anzora was transported to the hospital and succumbed to his injuries on March 3, 2021. Officer Anzora was born on August 18, 1989, in Los Angeles, California. He was appointed to the Department on September 12, 2011. Officer Anzora is survived by his wife, Heather; mother, Teresa; and brothers, Nelson, Carlos and Marcopolo. We will never forget the sacrifice and dedication that Jose had to his community and for the city of Los Angeles. -- We will also never forget LAPD Policeman James Kennard, who was killed in an automobile accident when he lost control of his police vehicle during a heavy period of rain. Policeman Kennard had served with the Los Angeles Police Department for 10 years in the Intelligence Division.

A 28-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a series of armed robberies targeting U.S. Postal Service carriers in the San Fernando Valley. The LAPD says Andranik Naghdalyan allegedly demanded postal keys and scanners at gunpoint before fleeing in a white Lexus. He was taken into custody during a traffic stop. The LAPD is asking for the public’s help identifying a hit-and-run driver who fatally struck a pedestrian in Pico-Union last December. The victim was struck around 11:45 p.m. near Venice Boulevard and Malvern Avenue when a silver 2008 to 2010 Chrysler 300 traveling eastbound hit the pedestrian. The driver is described as a man between 50 and 60 years old, fled the scene instead of stopping to render aid. Detectives have released images of the suspect and vehicle, which may have a non-working driver’s side fog light and darker paint on the driver’s door. Sometimes the best wake up call does not come from your alarm clock. It comes from the LAPD on a loudspeaker letting you know your boyfriend’s band is outside. After Banda R9 raffled off a Valentine’s Day serenade, one band member decided to surprise his girlfriend at her Koreatown home at 7 AM, not realizing she was still fast asleep. When phone calls failed, officers on patrol stepped in and used their PA system to help deliver the romantic assist. Moments later, she appeared at the door to find her boyfriend holding a bouquet as the band played on, turning an early morning patrol into a love song delivery service. “Driving while intoxicated is not a victimless crime and when Los Angeles politicians such as Councilmember Nithya Raman and Eunisses Hernandez repeatedly vote to cut police officers, stop enforcing DUI laws and end most other traffic enforcement, in the name of criminal justice reform, it only makes our streets less safe for every Angeleno,” the LAPPL Board of Directors said in a statement. Police are searching for a hit-and-run driver who struck and killed a pedestrian in Panorama City earlier this month. According to the LAPD, the victim was crossing Roscoe Boulevard near Lennox Avenue around 2 a.m. when he was hit by a silver Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck. The driver fled without stopping, and the victim later died at a hospital. A $50,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the suspect’s identification and arrest.
