150 years ago there were more Black elected members of the .@LouisianaSenate than there are today. In 1872, 12 of 36 were Black. In #BlackHistoryMonth 2022, while Louisiana is now more than 1/3 Black, only 11 of 39 districts are majority Black. #LaLege #LaGov #VetoAllTheMaps⚖️⚜️

State Rep. Edmond Jordan says he is the first Black lawmaker to represent West Baton Rouge Parish in 150 years. He notes that the state had 29 Black lawmakers back then and 29 today. He says that doesn't represent progress #lalege
