Q: Why aren't Maryland and Marshall eligible?
A: By precedent. In 1952 Maryland votes for Lambert Trophy Champion were not accepted. Also true: the Lambert Trophy was formed to recognize Eastern independents, and both were in conferences during the Trophy's formative years. West Virginia was eligible at least as far back as 1942. Marshall was not.
