Hazardous Beach Conditions and Coastal Flooding Advisory in Malibu June 14 - 18 The National Weather Service has issued a Beach Hazards Statement for the Malibu Coast through late Wednesday night, June 18, and a Coastal Flood Advisory from 6:00 PM Sunday, June 14, through 2:00 AM Tuesday, June 16 due to elevated surf and very high tides. Surf of 3–6 feet will create dangerous rip currents and powerful breaking waves. There is an increased risk of ocean drowning. Rip currents can quickly pull swimmers and surfers away from shore, while large waves can sweep people off beaches, rocks, and jetties and capsize small boats near the shoreline. There may be debris in the surf zone that can be hazardous. Very high tides may cause minor flooding in low-lying coastal areas, including beaches, parking lots, walkways, and beach access points. The greatest flooding impacts are expected from 8:00 PM to midnight Monday. Avoid entering the water during these hazardous conditions, especially for inexperienced swimmers and surfers. If you visit the beach, stay near occupied lifeguard towers and keep off rocks and jetties, which can be especially dangerous during high surf. Protect property in flood-prone areas, and never drive around barricades or through flooded areas. As the weather heats up, make sure every swim is a safe one. Protect yourself, your family, and your community by following these essential pool safety tips: 🔹 Never swim alone. Always have a buddy whether you’re an adult or a child. 🔹 Watch kids closely. Active, constant supervision saves lives. Don’t rely solely on floaties or life vests. 🔹 Learn CPR. In an emergency, quick action makes all the difference. 🔹 Keep pools fenced and locked. A secure barrier prevents unsupervised access. 🔹 Stay within your limits. Avoid swimming out of your skill level and know your limitations. 🔹 No running near the pool. Slippery surfaces can lead to serious injuries. 🔹 Check water depth before jumping. Look before you leap. 🔹 Keep the pool area clean. Remove toys and clutter. Remember to remove toys so children aren’t tempted to enter the water. 🔹Avoid alcohol when swimming or supervising. Stay alert and aware. 🔹 Know where safety equipment is. Keep rescue rings, poles, and first aid supplies nearby. Seconds save lives. Always dial 9-1-1 for emergencies. Stay safe, stay aware, and enjoy the water responsibly 🌞

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department is warning residents about World Cup-related online scams targeting fans looking for tickets, hospitality packages, merchandise, streaming access, and betting opportunities. Cybercriminals are creating fake FIFA websites and social media ads that closely resemble legitimate ticketing and checkout pages. These sites may steal login credentials, personal information, credit card numbers, and payments. Before buying World Cup tickets or related products, residents should go directly to the official FIFA website by typing the address into their browser. Do not rely on sponsored ads, social media posts, text messages, Telegram or WhatsApp links, or offers that appear unusually cheap or urgent. Be cautious of sellers requesting payment through cryptocurrency, wire transfer, peer-to-peer payment apps, gift cards, or other methods that are difficult to reverse. Do not trust screenshots, PDFs, or “paper tickets” offered by private sellers. Residents who believe they were victimized should contact their local law enforcement agency, notify their bank or credit card company immediately, preserve screenshots and transaction records, and file a report with the FBI Internet Crime Complaint Center at IC3.gov.
