Raw? Sure. Brutal? Maybe. Demolished? Definitely not. Original Will County Courthouse Structural Engineer believes the building can continue to serve the community. ow.ly/KT2750MNFyR

On this day in 1966, the Black Panther Party for Self-Defense was founded in Oakland, CA. That same day, President Johnson signed the National Historic Preservation Act. Think about this moment in history and how we had to create protective movements against our destructiveness.

Thanks @6figga_dilla for the preservation shout out. Preservation matters! Historic places help us tell our full history. @landmarksill - Proud to work for the nonprofit that’s worked for 51 years helping people save historic places in Chicago and IL.
Seeing this reminded me that Chicago knocked down the world’s s 1st sky scrapper in the late 1920s 🤦🏿‍♂️. Meanwhile Amsterdam has a bunch of buildings older than our country. Preservation matters!!!
