“The emergence of type 2 diabetes in children in Central Australia is a catastrophe,” said NT Health’s Dr James Dowler, acting director of pediatrics at Alice Springs Hospital.
“It’s going to ruin lives, it’s going to impact future generations,” he added.

The Parliamentary Health C’tee has been on the road for its enquiry into the huge increase in diabetes.
Yarrabah is an hour out of Cairns. There is *no* fresh fruit in the only shop. The water quality is unreliable, and Coke’s cheaper than bottled water.
We must do better.
