I have now lived same city as my sister and our best friend for 5 years. My life is innumerably better and friendships are why. I will never be able to ignore that knowledge again. I work in a field that favors nomads, but happiness is more important.
1) It's hard to make new friends in your 30s
2) People report being 25% happier when they live close to friends
3) Family isn't enough to provide the robust safety net we crave
