March 21st is International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination. The GECDSB is dedicated to building environments that are truly inclusive where students and staff feel safe and empowered to speak out against all forms of hate, injustice and racial discrimination without fear of reprisal, and where staff and students are committed to exercising allyship. Over 500 students, staff and community members have joined us for the GECDSB's first Black Joy, Black Excellence Student Symposium today. The symposium celebrates the pathway and perspective of Black members of the community on what is Black Joy-Black Excellence. We are grateful to the Black Student Advisory Committee and every staff or community member who shared their voices and helped to make this day a reality. 🖤❤💚💛

Ramadan is one of the holiest months in the Islamic calendar. During Ramadan, many Muslims will abstain from food and water from sunrise to sunset for 30 days. Families will have a pre-dawn meal and then an evening meal to break the fast. The timing of Ramadan changes each year because Muslims follow the lunar calendar.
