October is Speak Up month and this yearโ€™s theme is #ListenUp. Completing the Staff Survey is one of the best ways for all colleagues to speak up and have their views heard! Iโ€™ve done mine - please take some time to do yours. @LPTnhs @NatGuardianFTSU @ODTeamLPT @NHFTNHS

The language we use as leaders shapes workplace culture. It plays a critical role in psychological safety. Our words (& the way we communicate) can encourage the experimentation & risk-taking we want our teams to demonstrate for innovation & improvement. It can also stifle initiative. @tom_geraghty sets out "seven deadly sins of psychological safety" - the most common/damaging things leaders say that crush psychological safety in the workplace: 1) โ€œThatโ€™s a terrible idea.โ€ 2) โ€œYou should know that by now.โ€ 3) โ€œWhose fault is this?โ€ 4)โ€œEveryone is replaceable.โ€ 5)โ€œDonโ€™t bring me problems, bring me solutions.โ€ 6)โ€œJust get it done.โ€ 7) โ€œNot now, Iโ€™m too busy.โ€ psychsafety.co.uk/the-seven-โ€ฆ. @tnvora has translated them into a brilliant graphic: qaspire.com/7-deadly-sins-ofโ€ฆ.
